The RHLI 150th Commemorative Sword is an 1897-pattern infantry officer's sword, proudly made by Spanish craftsmen in the fine tradition of Toledo steel and sword-making. The quality is evident from every angle.

All 21 RHLI major battle honours are etched sharply into the blade. The original 13th Battalion badge accompanies our South African and World War One honours, and today's cap badge accompanies our World War Two honours.

The detailing is sharp and precise, the work of careful acid etching. The decorative scroll work has received the same custom treatment, neatly bracketing our Battle Honours on both sides. The Anniversary inscription is centred on the blade, on both sides.

The hilt is a work of art on its own, with the grip wound with the traditional silver wire. It is strengthened with a cross-hatched polished steel backing, with a flat thumb rest for a secure grip and ending in a rolled and stepped pommel.

The guard is beautifully stamped and cleanly incised, with the Royal Cipher deeply marked and raised against a hammered background that makes the detail jump out.

The ricasso - precisely set with the standard "proved" mark and medallion - is topped with a deep brown leather button which not only protects the guard from being damaged by the scabbard, but also provides a seal for the scabbard to keep your blade pristine and shining.

The included gold sword knot adds a practical but beautifully-decorative splash of colour to the polished glow of the sword's brilliant metal work.
