Where We Are Now

The men and women of the Infantry perform their duties outdoors, by day or by night, exposed to all weather conditions. The work is physically and mentally demanding and is often carried out for long periods of time with little chance for rest. In combat or operational situations, the job is mentally stressful and the risk of physical injury is always present.

Geographically, Infantry soldiers may serve from stations within Canada to overseas locations throughout the world, in response to NATO and UN commitments.

Another of the function of the unit is training volunteers for domestic and overseas operations with the Regular Army.

Over the last year in fact, we have had 2 people deply to the Golan Heights with the United Nations on Operation Danaca, 7 people on Operation Palladium, with NATO SFOR, in Bosnia Herzegovina, and one member to Sierre Leone on Operation Sculpture.

There are also former members of the unit that are currently serving, or have served on other Operations, such as Operation Apollo in Afganistan, and in Cyprus as part of Operation Snowgoose.

And this doesn't yet take into the fact of participation during the Ice Storm and the Manitoba Floods!
There are quite a few chances for those who wish travel and help make a difference!
