What They Do

Resource Management Support Clerks (RMS CLKs) provide administrative and financial support to all military activities. This career field, because it is one of the largest in the military, offers a wide scope of employment opportunities, both in terms of the working environment and tasks assigned, such as:

  • Human resources administration
  • Financial management support services
  • Personnel support services
  • Corporate and General purpose administration

Qualification Requirements

Candidates for this military occupation (MOC) should possess a sound education, preferably junior or senior matriculation. RMS Clerks must be responsible, tactful, discreet and mentally alert. They must be capable of accurately performing repetitive clerical and financial tasks and be willing to work long hours to meet deadlines. As well, RMS Clerks should be interested in dealing with the public, in working with numbers, objects and forms and in working in a detailed and organized manner. Reliability and honesty, as well as the flexibility and the ability to adapt to a variety of locations, conditions and management systems, are also necessary attributes.

Training

Successful applicants will attend a Basic Recruit Training Course at ATC Meaford. During Basic Recruit Training, they will learn policies and regulations of the Canadian Forces; basic safety procedures; first aid training; survival under nuclear, biological and chemical conditions; drill, dress and deportment (3Ds); weapon handling and firing; cross-country navigation; and survival under field conditions. They will also undergo physical fitness training. Basic Recruit Training is physically demanding. More information may be obtained by speaking to a Recruiter.

Advanced Military and Specialty Training Courses

Personnel who demonstrate the required ability and ambition will undertake advanced occupation training through formal courses or on-job training as they progress in their careers. Working Environment

RMS Clerks are normally employed indoors in an office environment. However, they may also be employed with army field units. Under field conditions, personnel may work from a tent or a mobile van and may be exposed to operational situations, which may require them to perform as members of a combat unit.
