Esprít de corp in a military unit is absolutely vital to a unit’s performance in peace and war. It’s what makes a collection of soldiers into a cohesive fighting force.
The RHLI Christmas dinner – held at the Legion in Burlington for 2007 - is a good example of what it takes to forge a bond between people in uniform. The officers and senior non-commissioned officers (NCOs) serve the meal to the non-commissioned members (NCMs) in gesture symbolizing the interdependence and value of each member.
The unit also recognizes members who have made an exceptional contribution to the unit, and members of the community who have made a contribution to the unit or the Forces in Hamilton. This includes the prestigious Silver Cap Badge, Commanding Officer’s Commendations, and the winners of the RHLI Tough Soldier Competition, Exercise Resolute Riley, held every September.
